Tuesday, 4.10pm - DRIVERS have long been frustrated by the lack of work being done on this part of the gyratory system in Brook Street, Grantham.
The section of road at the traffic lights near the bottom of Swinegate has been closed off for many months, with no visible sign of any work being done to open it up.
Highways bosses this week admitted the delay has been caused by engineering difficulties associated with the Mowbeck running underneath the road.
Area highways manager Mark Heaton said: "The works are now programmed for July this year with overnight works and closures to reduce congestion issues in Grantham, taking on board comments made by Grantham Business Club and residents of Grantham."
The work will include improvements on the junction of Broad Street and Brook Street to allow lorries to turn more easily.
The closed-off piece of road will become part of the main carriageway once the work is finished.
