10/12/07 - Traffic ground to a halt in the centre of Grantham again on Monday morning - angering traders hoping for a successful Christmas.
By 9am traffic was backed up as far as the Farrier pub at the edge of town following the partial closure of Springfield Road.

Further chaos was caused by the breakdown of the traffic lights at the junction of Wharf Road and London Road.

The road has been reduced to one way traffic for 20 weeks to allow for utilities work in preparation for a 246-house development by Bovis Homes on the site of former Impress canning works.

Traders only learned about the works last week when South Kesteven District Council sent an e-mail warning after being informed by Lincolnshire County Council's highways department.

Should these works have been delayed until after Christmas? Or should we just accept that it has to be done? Click here to tell us what you think.
