A team of brainiacs competing on TV quiz show Eggheads on Thursday is captained by Grantham man Damian McEntegart.

Damian, of Barrowby Gate, is one of five colleagues to take on the Eggheads for the BBC2 programme which airs at 6pm.

The group works together at Nottingham-based clinical technology firm Perceptive Informatics, where Damian, 55, is a senior director.

He said: “We aren’t allowed to divulge the results until the show is aired but we can say that we had a great day and it was a fantastic experience.

“The girls looked great after being made up for 45 minutes by the professionals - rather disturbingly the boys seemed to enjoy getting made up too!”

The Mean Team was their title, chosen as three team members’ work involves randomisation and statistics. It was after getting through an audition in Birmingham that they were invited on to the show, travelling to Glasgow in Scotland for filming.

The Mean Team competed against the Eggheads, a team of the world’s best quiz players, in four head-to-head contests on specialist subjects such as politics and sports.

To find out how they did, tune in and watch the show on BBC2 at 6pm on Thursday.
