The 90th birthday of one of Grantham’s best known musicians is being celebrated with a special concert in St Wulfram’s Church on Saturday, September 20.
Philip Lank, for many years music master at The King’s School, and organist and choirmaster at St Wulfram’s Church, is being honoured in a concert organised by The Philip Lank Trust, a charity dedicated to supporting the musical
and choral tradition of St Wulfram’s Church.
Performers include the distinguished pianist Richard Markham, organist Joe Beech, baritone Jake Muffett and St Wulfram’s Chamber Choir under the direction of the present choirmaster Dr Tim Williams.
In addition to his work at The King’s School and St Wulfram’s, Philip was the founder conductor of The Grantham Choral Society, founder member and now President of the Grantham Music Festival, an examiner for the Associated Board of the Royal School of Music, lecturer in music at Harlaxton College, conductor of the South Holland Singers and committee member of Grantham Music Club.
Tickets cost £15/£12 concessions and children and students get in free. Tickets are available from St Wulfram’s Parish Office on 01476 561342 and Roger Sleigh on 01476 572377. The concert starts at 7.30pm and refreshments will be served in the interval.
