A family fun day went ahead in Dysart Park, Grantham, yesterday, but wet and windy weather kept the crowds away.
Organisers were hoping for about 50 stalls in the park and large crowds but the weather put paid to a bumper day.
Libby Simpson, of organisers Dysart Park Action Group, said: “Apart from the weather it was very very good. Everybody had a good time. It was just unfortunate it rained at 10 o’clock because that put people off going. Then there was such an emphasis on how bad the weather was going to be and that killed it for us, but the weather was not that bad.
“Very few stall tuned up. It could not have been a worse time. But those people that did turn up said how much they enjoyed it.”
The show went on with acts in the arena including the Dako Flying Angels acrobatic team and a dog show. A number of bands also played music in the bandstand and there was a birds of prey attraction.
Libby admitted the event had lost money but she said the organisers were grateful for £500 donations from Yorkshire Bank and the Swimarathon.
And the event will be held next year with the date being brought forward to Saturday, July 29. The action group would like to hear from anybody who wants to set up a stall, provide an act or band, sponsor the event, or pay for advertising. They can call Libby on 01476 594600.
