Grantham singer Elaine Bishop has been chosen to take one of the lead roles in the world premiere of a new musical production as part of September’s Gravity Fields Festival.
Their work celebrates the creation of Ely Cathedral and will be performed on September 28 in St Wulfram’s Church.
The taster session takes place from 3pm to 5pm. The production is organised by Cantata Dramatica, a musical arts company which commissions and promotes new music in churches and cathedrals.
Cantata’s Gravity Fields production features a variety of styles from church music to folk song and operatic-style choruses, ranging from peaceful and contemplative to joyful and exhilirating.
The choir will be joined by a team of professional soloists and instrumental players and recorded extracts of the music are available on the Cantata Dramatica website with a registration form.
Elaine, a classically trained mezzo-soprano, singing teacher and musical director, is an accomplished and award-winning performer with UK and international companies at the international Gilbert and Sullivan Festival.
She has also performed with professional companies on Gilbert and Sillivan works and performed at national venues including the Royal Albert Hall and London’s Barbican, Manchester’s Bridgewater Hall and Birmingham’s Symphony Hall.
