Activity camps at The Meres Leisure Centre in Grantham have been popular this year, according to organisers.

The camps give youngsters a chance to try new activities, such as kayaking and rock climbing, as well as be creative in arts and craft sessions. And, perhaps most importantly, they learn life-saving skills on a ‘rookie lifeguard’ course.

James Cole is general manager of the centre, which is run by 1Life, formerly Leisure Connection. He said they have seen “great success” over the summer holidays, adding: “It’s a great way for children to keep active, have fun and make friends.

“We have planned a wide range of exciting and varied activities; not only will each day be different, but each week will have a unique and thrilling theme to it as well.”

The next activity camp is during the October half-term, aimed at children aged eight to 14. Reflecting the time of year, it will be Halloween-themed.

Camps at The Meres cost from £12.50 per day. For more information, call 01476 581930.
