MANY children will be disappointed to have gone back to school this week - but many parents are overjoyed.

Research released last week shows that many parents couldn’t wait for the school holidays to end so they could have more time to themselves.

The research, from YouGov, shows that 43 per cent of working parents think the school holidays are too long.

More than a third of all parents plan to use the free time they have now schools are open again to make changes in their lives.

The research says more than half off all parents are “happy, excited or relieved” that the school holidays are over.
