A CENTRE which is invaluable to disabled people in Grantham has been given a boost by a donation from the Grantham Lions Club.

The club, which supports numerous local charities and good causes in the town every year, donated £200 to the Cree Centre, in Aire Road.

It was all the more welcome as the centre’s annual fund-raising Christmas concert was cancelled last year because of the snow.

Lion Godfrey Mackinder said: “The centre has a concert at Finkin Street church every year, but because of the bad weather in December it was cancelled.

“They reckon to make about £800 from it and they do need the funding. The centre is another one we like to support within the town.”

The Cree Centre is home to Grantham and District Mencap, an organisation which supports adults with profound and multiple learning disabilities.

It organises a range of activities for its members, including weekly swimming sessions, bowling and ‘Sailability’ at Rutland Water.
