Well done to The Windmill at Redmile for picking up two awards in this year’s East Midlands Food and Drink Awards!
The rural pub won in the Best Dining Pub and Best Sunday Lunch categories of the awards, put on each year by Grantham Journal publisher Johnston Press.
Husband and wife owners Kirsten and David Rutt were presented with their awards at a ceremony on Sunday, held at Greetham Valley Hotel, Golf and Conference Centre near Oakham.
There was a big cheer as they took to the stage to collect their wall plaques and certificates. The award for Best Dining Pub was presented to the couple by Peter Waller, from headline sponsor South Lincs Food Service, while the award for Best Sunday Lunch was handed over by Robert and Dee Hinch, of Greetham Valley.
All finalists present at the event were competing for the overall winners’ places, after winning their area category. Runners-up were highly commended, and they included Stoke Rochford Hall for Best Hotel Meal and Best Sunday Lunch, The Pantry at Corby Glen for Best Newcomer and Pizzini at Bottesford for Best Tea Room/Cafe.
Thanks go to the competition’s headline sponsor South Lincs Food Service, and co-sponsors Viking Signs, Greetham Valley Hotel, Golf and Conference Centre and L’Oliveto.
