MEMBERS of a three-piece band, which formed two years ago, say it is getting harder to get gigs in Grantham.
Even though Indigo is a popular band, which does cover songs from a huge range of artists including the Beatles and the Kaiser Chiefs, drummer Graham King said arranging bookings for the group is becoming more challenging.
He said: “So far I’ve managed to keep us busy but currently it’s a lot quieter. The pubs are struggling. There’s not so many regular pubs on the circuit now.”
Graham said some of the pubs, which used to have gigs every week have reduced to once a month and some seem to have stopped all together.
Despite this the band do not mind travelling around the county to play to audiences.
Graham said: “As long as you enjoy what you’re doing you’re motivated to do it.”
Bassist in the band, Annie Thompson, said they have played everywhere recently from Skegness to Scunthorpe.
She said: “We seem to be a popular band. We go down well in pubs and clubs. But it would be nice to get more gigs in Grantham.”
However, wherever they do their gigs travel is involved as even though Annie is from Grantham, Graham and David Hughes, who plays guitar and does vocals, are from Sleaford and Newark.
Graham and Annie formed the band with a third member two years ago. When the third person left about six month ago they arranged an audition for a replacement in David’s studio, FP Studio, which is near Newark.
David said: “The guy didn’t turn up so I said I would do it. We got together by accident really.”
The band, who also play at private functions, have got their next gig at 8.30pm at The Nobody Inn tomorrow (Saturday) so why not go along and have a listen?
If you can’t make it tomorrow then they are headlining at Sconcefest in Newark on July 10. To book the band call 07795062141 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org
