Young Grantham chanteuse Sophie Red took to the stage at Oscar’s Wine Bar on Friday night.
The bar was relatively quiet prior to Sophie’s first set, with a selection of ska music blasting out of the sound system, but the place soon filled up as she went on stage.
Sophie cut a lonely figure with just backing tracks as her accompaniment, but her effortless vocals were truly quite arresting.
She belted out a mix of classics and what might be considered ‘modern classics’, all of which were eagerly received by the enthusiastic crowd.
Sophie’s talent is certainly worthy of recognition and she deserves to be fronting a good band able to make the most of her ability.
