G RAMMY nominated jazz singer Stacey Kent will be performing at The Guildhall Arts Centre on Saturday, May 5.
The singer, who is well known as the musician that performed Hushabye Mountain on the Dreams bed adverts, will be playing classical jazz tracks and newer songs from her latest album - Dreamer in Concert.
Stacey, who is looking forward to her debut gig in Grantham, said: “We are thrilled to be back on tour in the UK. I love to play music, it’s my whole life.
“There’s nothing more beautiful or gratifying than sharing music. We usually get a really great reaction. We travel the entire world and play in different countries and different cultures but the people attracted to this kind of music are kind of the same wherever we go, I love that.”
Stacey has played with her band for a long time and she loves the intricate relationships they share. Some of them went to school together, others college, and her husband is also involved.
She said: “These relationships are so profound, that’s something we love sharing too.”
Stacey’s music is influenced by a lot of different musicians but the biggest impact was made by Brazillian singer João Gilberto.
She said: “He’s my biggest influence, I heard his record when I was 14 years old and it’s been my favourite ever since.
“My style is that I love to tell stories, universal stories that apply to all of us. It’s that I love, it’s romantic, it’s intimate.”
Tickets are £16 and £17. For more information contact The Guildhall on 01476 406158.
