Being crowned the best in a regional music competition is the highlight of a whirlwind seven-month career for a Grantham punk band.
The Sour Blisters played their first gig in December, so to win a regional Battle of the Bands competition just seven months later is impressive.
The band - made up of Philip Moreton on vocals and lead guitar, Sam Marshall on vocals and bass guitar, and Stuart Baker on drums and backing vocals - won the majority of crowd votes during the final of the competition at The Shed in Leicester.
Stuart said: “We had great support, particularly from Grantham locals. The crowd was really moshing to our set.”
They won a place on a tour organised by competition organiser Majick Music Group, plus equipment and a social networking development package.
To get into the prestigious final, they beat off competition from local bands in two rounds at The Atrium in Grantham, before facing off competition from more experienced bands in Leicester.
The Sour Blisters mostly play their own original songs, but they also do covers by bands such as The Ramones, Beastie Boys and The Undertones.
