A large-scale beer festival will take place later this summer at Arena UK in Allington.
Grantham Beer Festival is a family event set to attract hundreds of people over the weekend of August 3 and 4. While adults can enjoy a wide range of beers and ciders, there will be a large array of children’s entertainments as well and live music throughout the two days.
Numerous bands will take to the stage including tribute band Noasis and local acts including Dynamite Billy, Southwellz, The Arcadians and The Protoneers.
The wide variety of beers available will come from Oldershaw’s Brewery in Harrowby, and there will also be a number of ciders on sale from around the region. All beers cost £3 a pint and £1.70 for a half pint.
Family entertainment during the day will feature children’s and adults’ Sumo ring, bouncy castle, bucking bronco, kids’ quad bikes and an antique fun fair. There will also be a falconry display. A hog roast will be available together with a selection of burgers, pizzas and toasties.
Organisers are laying on an hourly coach service to and from Grantham bus station. While there will be no camping this year, it is hoped that it will be possible next year if the festival is a success. Parking at the venue will be free.
Organiser Lloyd McAuliffe said that a beer tent larg e nough to cater for 500 people will be on site. He said: “The festival will appeal to every age group and we have tried to offer something for everyone. The acts on offer are fantastic and we hope it will be a real success and something we can carry on with in the future.”
Tickets for each day are priced at £5 and under-12s enter for free. Or weekend tickets can be bought for £8 for entry on both days. The festival will run from noon to 11pm on the Saturday and from noon to 8pm on the Sunday.
