A dance night in tribute to a Grantham man who has worked for more than 60 years in the music business will take place in May.

The rock ‘n’ roll event, called A Great Memory Night, will raise money to support the family of Noel Wallis who has Alzheimer’s. The event will be held on Saturday, May 14, at Grantham College refectory, and is already proving popular as there is a waiting list for tickets.

On the bill are Grantham’s very own rock ‘n’ roll heroes - Vince Eager, Trevor Leeson, Dave Knight, Terry Carey and Lee Robbins with Steve and the Stereos. All the acts are giving their time for free.

Organiser Malcolm Broughton said: “The event is a thank you to Noel for all the work has has done over the past 60 odd years for the music business, his charity work, putting on shows at the Guildhall for the Mayor, Party in the Park and the Millennium Dance at the barracks. He worked in London with Larry Parnes, associated with Billy Fury, Marty Wilde and Tommy Steele. He was road manager for Eddie Cochran and was waiting at the airport to go to America the night he was killed in a car crash.”

Malcolm added: “Noel is not in the best of health at the moment and is confined to a wheelchair. He is a very popular man. We would like to raise some money to help his wife with some respite and towards alterations in the house.”

If you would like to be put on the waiting list for any tickets that become available call Malcolm on 01476 573903.
