A band who have played everything from secluded coves to 30,000 capacity festival fields is set to entertain fans at Grantham’s Guildhall Arts Centre on Saturday, May 9.

The Urban Folk Quartet (UFQ) are doing a national tour this month to promote their new album, The Escape.

The band consists of Joe Broughton, Paloma Trigás, Tom Chapman and Dan Walsh and, since forming in 2009, their genre-defying, all-embracing approach to folk music has captivated audiences in high-energy performances across the globe. Their new studio album showcases material the band have crafted over the course of their first year with their latest member – banjo player, guitarist and singer Walsh.

Broughton has been described as the fieriest English fiddler, while Chapman is claimed to be the most accomplished and innovative cajonero the UK has to offer. Trigás has shared stages and recorded with with the likes of The Chieftains, Sharon Shannon and Altan during her tenure touring with Spain’s biggest folk star, Carlos Nuñez.

Ticket cost £12/£10 from the box office (01476 406158) or from www.guildhallartscentre.com
