THE dreams of two Grantham girls came true on Tuesday when they got the chance to meet their idols -The Wanted.
Shannon and Alex Wormall, of Walton Gardens, have been big fans of the boy band, which includes Grantham born Jay McGuiness, since it formed in the summer of last year.
Shannon, 16, won the chance to meet the band and sit in on an interview with them after entering a competition on a local radio station.
She said: “It was amazing, better than I’d hoped. I still feel a bit shaky.
“I’m even more of a fan now.”
Shannon decided to take her sister Alex, 18, with her to meet the boys.
Alex added: “It was great just to actually talk to them, it was kind of unreal. They really are genuinely nice.”
Shannon has been to see The Wanted, who have topped the charts with hits such as All Time Low, on several occasions but this was the first time she got to meet them.
She said: “Most of my friends are fans as well. They’re a bit jealous.”
The band members were happy to get the chance to meet two of their biggest fans.
Siva Kaneswaran said: “They are lovely girls. Both of them are very pretty.”
Jay added: “They are really nice girls, not as hyperactive as some. They represented Grantham beautifully.”
A crowd of screaming fans were waiting for the band as they left the building to continue the promotion of their new single Glad You Came.
Jay said: “So far it’s going well. It’s amazing out there. It’s nice to be back in Lincolnshire.”
