Around 300 young string players and dancers from across Lincolnshire will be performing a feast of folk music and dance in the ‘Folk with Fiddles Celebration’ at The Meres Leisure Centre in Grantham on November 22, at 7pm.
Lincolnshire Youth String Chamber Orchestra, Lincolnshire Youth Cello Ensemble and a Folk with Fiddles massed ensemble will be performing a specially commissioned trio of Lincolnshire Folk tunes, an arrangement of music from Lord of the Dance and a grand finale of themes from Les Miserables.
The performance will also feature a dance spectacular from Liam Robinson and the Mini Morris Company, internationally renowned for playing traditional dance music of the highest quality; Go Dance Studios, the home of the Michelle Cooper School of Dancing; and the O’Dwyer Dance Academy, an Irish Dance company sharing in the history of Irish heritage, culture and dance.
In celebration of its 10th anniversary, The Lincolnshire Youth String Chamber Orchestra will be performing a section of Aaron Copland’s Appalachian Spring with former County Group players, featuring a beautifully choreographed dance by Harriet Leigh Spence.
