Young musicians are being given the opportunity to learn all about Blues music in a number of free workshops as part of the Newark Blues Festival 2013.
Each workshop, for musicians aged 18 or under, will provide tuition on various aspects of playing Blues music, at different ability levels, covering basic chord progressions through song structure to soloing and improvisation. Tutors will be available for acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass guitar, piano/keyboard, saxophone, trumpet, harmonica and vocals.
All attendees will be offered the opportunity to perform as part of a band on the main stage of Newark Blues Festival 2013 after the workshop on Saturday, September 7.
The first two workshops will be held at 10am at the Newark Academy Lilley & Stone Site on Saturday, August 31, and Sunday, September 1. The third workshop will be held on the Festival weekend itself on Saturday, September 7, at 9am at the Palace Theatre, Newark, after which the workshop performance will be staged at 11.30am in the theatre.
Anyone wishing to attend the workshops is advised to pre-register via the Newark Blues Festival website at www.newarkblues.co.uk/workshops
