A BRAND new show coming to the Guildhall stage focuses on Grantham’s famous son Sir Isaac Newton.

The show, ‘Let Newton Be!’, is the first in a series of events planned for the very first Grantham Festival, which itself promises to be a family fun event like no other in the town, and takes place over the weekend of April 1-3.

‘Let Newton Be!’ is presented by the Menagerie Theatre Company, and portrays the complex, controversial character and iconic figure of the scientific genius Newton - a devout, difficult, obsessive man who sought and found God in universal laws of light and motion.

The three actors, joined by video and clever stage design, battle as three incarnations of Newton - the young boy measuring the speed of wind, the isolated Cambridge scholar practising alchemy in the secrecy of his darkened room and the autocrat of British Science, ruling the Royal Society with an iron fist.

The show promises to be an enthralling one for all.

The show is on at the Guildhall at 7.30pm on Wednesday.

Tickets are £14 (£12) and can be bought from the box office on 01476 406158 or by visiting www.guildhallartscentre.com
