A writer and theatre producer who is bringing a show to Grantham’s Guildhall next month will ‘pop up’ at Grantham Library on Monday.
Grantham-born Becci Sharrock will be chatting to people about the show, Letters to Myself, and handing out free letter-writing kits to anyone who would like to take part in the project, which invites people to write a letter to their past, present or future self.
Some of the letters already received can be seen at www.letterstomyself.org.uk
Becci said: “Letters to Myself started because I became aware that I was having very similar conversations with friends. They would be talking about a problem or a situation of some kind and they would say something along the lines of, ‘I know what I would say to me if I were you’ or later in the conversation they would give me some brilliant advice that was just as applicable for them. And it started me thinking about how we might become better at honouring ourselves with the support, love and encouragement that we give to those around us. I’m interested in the way that we talk to ourselves, what advice we might wish to give our younger or older selves and our relationship with the voice we hear the most.”
Becci will be at the library 10.30am to 1.30pm on Monday, and will return for a creative writing workshop on Friday, March 24.
Talking about the free letter-writing kits she’ll be handing out, she said: “The kits are specifically designed to give people some time out from the stresses of daily life. So, make yourself a hot drink to go with your chocolate biscuit, have a sit down and think about what you would like to say to yourself.”
Letters to Myself is at the Guildhall on Saturday, March 25. For details and tickets, visit www.guildhallartscentre.com
