The Guildhall’s youth drama group Down to Earth will be the first youth theatre group in the UK to perform the wickedly funny Broadway hit musical The Addams Family when they appear on stage this week.
The musical follows the story of The Addams family who delight in the dark side of life, completely oblivious to the fact that people find them unusual. One night the family is thrown into turmoil when Wednesday Addams reveals she has fallen in love with a nice man from a respectable family.
Director Anna Wilson said: “The show has been a massive success in the USA so the second it became available here we snapped up the performing rights - we’re one of the first theatre companies in the whole of the UK to perform it. It’s such a brilliant, hilarious show and we’re really excited!”
The show features new songs and all of the well-loved Addams Family characters such as Gomez, Morticia, Uncle Fester, Lurch, Wednesday and Pugsley. The group will even be transforming the Guildhall into the Addams Family home, with gothic decorations all around the venue to give it that spooky atmosphere.
The show is running from May 1 to 3, at 7.30pm. Tickets are £7.50/£6.50 concessions. To book, visit the Guildhall Arts Centre, call the Box Office on 01476 406158 or book online at www.guildhallartscentre.com
