LESS than inspired by the trailer for The Watch, I wandered into the cinema with little enthusiasm.
But thankfully, it was far from a waste of a couple of hours. Instead it was one of the best comedies I’ve seen this year, and my other half said the same.
Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughan, Jonah Hill and Richard Ayoade play neighbours who form a Neighbourhood Watch group after a friend is murdered. As more members of the community are brutally murdered, they soon realise their little town of Glenview is the centre of an alien invasion and battle begins.
Vince Vaughan is on top form in this film, and without him I don’t think the comedy would have been nearly as good as it is. He and Jonah Hill play similar characters as we’ve seen them play before which might seem a bit of a cop-out - but if it ain’t broke don’t fix it.
The Watch is showing at the Reel in Grantham this week.
