Thursday, 12.55pm - A NEW venue has had to be found for the Thackson's Well wind farm appeal which begins in Grantham next month.
South Kesteven District Council had originally booked space at The Meres leisure centre, in Trent Road, for the eight-day appeal.

This did not meet the Planning Inspectorate's requirements for "retiring rooms" for barristers and the planning inspector, according to the council.

But rumours circulated this week that the other half of the hall had been hired out to sports teams, making it impossible for the inspector to conduct the inquiry in peace.

A spokeswoman for SKDC said they are considering alternative venues and this would incur "minimal cost impact".

She said: "The Planning Inspectorate has only recently made us aware of the very specific requirements for the appeal venue – for example, the need for a number of 'retiring rooms' for use by barristers and the Inspector.

"We can't meet these requirements at the Meres so we've been looking at alternative venues. We're close to finalising a booking with the Olde Barn at Marston which has the added advantage of being closer to the site and more central for the interested parties. We'll be writing to everyone who is interested within the next two weeks to confirm this change".

No council office space is available on the dates required.
