Thursday, 11.45am - VILLAGERS living close to the site of a proposed wind farm at Sempringham Fen, near Billingborough, were invited to two public exhibitions last week.
Energy firm ScottishPower Renewables held the exhibitions in Pointon and Billingborough to give more details of its plan to install six turbines, each 395ft tall, at Neslam Farm.
A company spokesman said around 150 people went along. He said: "We were delighted with the turnout and that so many people showed such an interest in the project.
"We were surprised by how many people were positive about the project."
But outside the exhibitions, protestors from campaign group AGAST - Action Group Against Sempringham Turbines - made their feelings clear with posters outlining their concerns about the proposed wind farm.
Group chairman Debbie Wren said: "I would say the split in the community is 80 per cent against the wind farm and 20 per cent in favour.
"We all fully understand the need for renewable energy but the issue here is that these turbines are too close to people's homes.
"The key thing for us is noise and health issues as well as the cumulative effect of having existing wind farms and future wind farms springing up all around this area."
ScottishPower Renewables expects to make a decision on whether to progress with a planning application for the wind farm in September after the results of an Environmental Impact Assessment are known.
