Regards the Grantham Bid: Why did the ballot fail, because it was too big and unwieldly.

On Sunday I thought I would check on my next green bin collection day as it is the end of the season, though my annual calendar clearly stated that my area would have a green bin collection on November 30, 2016.

The ULHT has been following a policy to create a Centre of Excellence at Lincoln and Boston for over 30 years and in my opinion it has failed spectacularly; does anyone living outside these two cities, given the choice, opt for treatment at either of these hospitals?

Referring to page 17 of the Grantham Journal dated November 25, 2016, mentioning yet again the demise of Manthorpe Lodge, a more appropriate article ought to relate to the main hospital building in Manthorpe Road.

While our battle to save our A&E and the NHS continues, can we take a moment as a community and think about the lives lost in order that we may live.

May we all wish our elected Grantham & Stamford Member of Parliament Nick Boles a speedy and full recovery?

After recently being a patient in Grantham Hospital recovering from a serious illness I have nothing but praise for the hospital and would like to thank staff for the care and expertise I received.

Dr David Garrick cared deeply for Grantham Hospital. A fine man and dedicated to his profession, he will be greatly missed.

Mrs Jill Hopkinson’s letter (Journal, October 7) must have epitomised many readers’ feelings about the shameful way that United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust has made Grantham’s hospital the scapegoat for the shortcomings of other Lincolnshire hospitals and ULHT’s own blatant incompetence.

The Journal said the temporary closure of Grantham’s A&E was due to a shortage of doctors at Lincoln and Boston and not at Grantham (and gave the figures that proved it).

The inconsiderate among us continue to turn the countryside into a refuse site.

I am pleased to be able to report we have had some initial success in the fight to retain proper services at Grantham hospital.

Isaac Newton’s early education at Woolsthorpe, then Grantham’s Kings’ School, were his stepping stones to Trinity College Cambridge.

Am I the only one who is getting a bit fed up with the weekly lecture from from SKDC, telling us what we can and can’t put in our waste bins and where, when and how we must put our bins out?

I know a lot of time has passed since Dominos were asked to refrain from having guys hang around road junctions with huge advertising boards strapped to their body, but can I ask why it is that now we have Dominos occasionally having a guy in position wearing a board and a Papa Johns employing folks in Superhero costumes hanging around the KFC,Springfield Road andHarlaxton Road crossroads.

The situation regarding the Grantham Hospital is grave indeed, and now is the time for us all to work together to come to a sensible conclusion.

The recent report on the case whereby a Grantham man was given a few months in prison, to run concurrent to his nine year sentence, passed on him for a previous very violent offence, is an affront to the people of Grantham and the country.
