Your front page article in The Journal last week quite rightly highlighted that ‘axing bus services will cut people off’.

Residents in the Manthorpe area are once again being asked to comment on the latest Larkfleet/Allison Homes proposals to build a large housing estate on nearby greenbelt/farmland.

To the residents of Manthorpe village, Manthorpe estate and all associated roads; to the mums and dads who try to deliver their children each morning to Cliffedale Primary school or the Priory Ruskin Academy; you have only until January 28 to register your objections to the proposed development of initially 550 homes on the land north of Longcliffe Road.

Very many congratulations to A&P Travel on their 10th anniversary of trading.

How many more letters from John Andrews are we to be subjected to in 2016?

With Larkfleet going for planning permission for 550 homes and looking to increase to 1,000, just how many of those houses will be for people trying to get a first home?

May I, through your newspaper, express our most sincere thanks to all the people of Grantham who supported this year’s Christmas Post Campaign. We had another very good year, delivering nearly 17,000 cards.

I just think it’s about time that somebody got something done about cars and vans parking on all the grass verges, and that’s because it’s churning and ruining and also digging up these grass verges.

It’s all very well putting up new signs to promote Grantham, but what about the existing street signs that are looking old and tatty, and in some cases, barely legible due to age and wear?

The exchanges between various Journal contributors must generate considerable interest, if not amusement, for readers, given the assortment of adversarial banter and badinage.

It was fabulous to read the response by Cllr Ray Wootten to both Cllr Morgan’s letter and mine.

“Name address supplied” (Journal Letters, 20 November 2016) is right to draw attention to the ridiculous proposals from Lincolnshire County Council (LCC) to put yellow lines on Dudley Road. I am writing in to object, as well.

On Saturday, November 21, we were delighted to accept on behalf of the Cystic Fibrosis Trust a cheque for £5,000 from Grantham Community Books.

In The Journal last week David Taylor criticised SKDC councillors for not speaking up to defend our hospital services and asked ‘do our politicians care?’

The Halloween dance held on Saturday, October 31, at Grantham College Refectory was once again a huge success all round.

My mother (91 years old) and I would like to thank the bus driver and passengers of the Carlton Scroop to Grantham bus on Thursday 22nd October 2015, approximately 10am for their help when she collapsed when she got on to the bus.
