Grandmother and grandson stand amid snowdrift in Gorse Lane, Grantham, in 1981

A picture from the 1980s shows a grandmother and grandson in the midst of a snow drift.

Irene Foster and her grandson Andy Clark on Gorse Lane on Boxing Day in 1981.

The pair were standing among the snowdrifts. The drifts covered the road to a height of six or seven feet across a large distance.

They had just been cleared when this photo was taken.

The piles of snow remained along Gorse Lane up to March 1982.
