Popular Grantham band The Six were set to make their debut appearance at Dingwalls, in Camden, London, in September 1985.

The band’s keyboard player Stuart Wood said: “We have great confidence in ourselves but don’t like to get too excited over events like this – it is one of our great ambitions, however.”

The Six appeared to be heading for the big time the previous year when they made two television appearances after winning a Battle of the Bands competition organised by Central TV.

Since then, the band had been working hard to trying to secure a name for themselves in the East Midlands, with London being the next obvious step.
