Time traveller with mobile phone may have been captured in an old Grantham photograph?
Old photographs and film footage of people who appear to be of another age – time travellers – are all the rage on YouTube and internet forums these days.
Several such images and videos seem to show people using futuristic-looking devices for their time, most often mobile phones.
Well, here at the Grantham Journal we think we may have found our very own!
Photographed on St Peter’s Hill, Grantham, in the 1930s, the gentleman walking across the shot looks like he could indeed be holding a mobile phone up to his ear; one for the conspiracy theorists amongst our readership perhaps . . .
We also thought the man looked reminiscent of movie director Alfred Hitchcock making one of his characteristic cameo film appearances. Maybe, with that, we have kick-started our own new conspiracy theory?!
The company name of the bus the gentleman is walking behind will be a very familiar one to true Granthamians, as they covered a lot of Grantham area service routes for decades to come after this picture was snapped.
