In June 1986, fourth year pupils of Belvoir High School in Bottesford put on a dramatic production of the classic story of gang warfare set in 1920s New York – ‘Bugsy Malone’.

Performed for two evenings, the youngsters entertained parents and friends, with one of the “gangs” armed with a “Slurge Gun” and the other launching traditional custard pies.

It was the students’ last term at the school before moving on to high education at Melton Upper School, and the production was very much part of their drama lessons.
