This shot is of the formal opening of Princess Drive, off Belton Lane, in Grantham, during 1954.

Poised to snip the ribbon was the then Mayor of Grantham, Ernest Hardy, with the chairman of West Kesteven Rural Council standing alongside him.

Apparently, Princess Drive was initially planned to be the first part of a ring road for Grantham!
