Members of Grantham Scooter Club returned home from the first annual North Lincolnshire Scooter Rally at Winterton as overall winners in 1964.

A trophy was presented to the best club in the field of 18, and Grantham secured it from runners-up Scunthorpe Vespa.

The Grantham club also distinguished itself by being the only team to enter a competitor in every event.

Club captain Dave Pick was the best solo rider and also won the obstacle race.

Seventeen-year-old learner rider Carol Truesdale was the only girl to take part in the rough ride event.

Vic Grummitt reached the finals of the slow race.

Others taking part were club secretary Bernard Stanger, Brian Parnaby, Margaret Bruin, Roger Marshall and Pauline Nichols.
