Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher went back to her old school, KGGS, during her one-day visit to Grantham in February, 1982.

The PM was greeted on Sandon Road by 150 protesting students and unemployed youngsters whose main gripe was education cuts.

They waved placards and chanted “Tories out!”, but Mrs Thatcher scarcely gave them a glance as she swept through the school gates to the cheers of pupils.
