lA Grantham lady gave evidence against a man on trial in Westminster for bigamy. George William Lucid was also said to have written letters to some 2,700 women, often asking for money.

lThe Journal printed reports from more than 20 villages on their coronation celebrations. At Belvoir, the Duke of Rutland provided a meat tea.
