l A vintage car made in 1911 was rescued from a Newark scrapyard, repaired and declared Grantham’s oldest car.

l Two Grantham men were caught up in an explosion in West Bromwich which made national news. Mr Diment and Mr Johnson were driving in the area while working for Aveling Barford when the explosion shattered the front windscreen - and wrecked six houses.

l A councillor suggested the Sir Isaac Newton statue should be painted “neutral colours” after describing it as a “dirty-looking bronze statue”.
