SPORTSMAN Geoffrey Wells won the Victor Ludorum Cup two years running while working for Aveling Barfords in the 1950s.

Geoffrey, who now lives in Suffolk, worked at Barfords for more than 20 years, from January, 1956 until August, 1979.

Geoffrey said: “I took part in the sports events for the Victor Ludorum Cup over so many different events.

“I won the cup in 1956 and again in 1957 but was unsuccessful in 1958.”

Geoffrey was presented with his trophy in ‘56 by Mrs Barford, while he received the ‘57 trophy from Mrs Girling.

Geoffrey said: “I would like to know if anybody has any knowledge of what happened to the cup.

“Also, is anybody writing the history of Aveling Barford?”

He added: “It would make a fascinating story.”
