THIS striking and timely photograph of Grantham Market Place shows how little has changed on the site over the past century - until now.
With the regeneration work on-going, Noel Baumber of Manthorpe Road has put forward this photograph showing the Market Place in 1906.
The photograph was turned into a postcard which was sent to Noel’s grandmother, Miss Bagworth, from her brother Les.
Noel said: “I came across it with some other old photographs. My father used to keep reams and reams of photographs and it was his mother.”
The photograph is particularly special to Noel and it shows the shop which would later become his pharmacy, while the site of his wife’s future doctor’s surgery is just out of shot.
The photograph shows young boys gathered around the Market Place monument, the old Post Office and the Angel & Royal Hotel.
