This cricket team were renowned for their fast deliveries.

That’s because they were a Post Office works team!

We’re grateful to former postal worker Michael Matsell for sending this photograph our way.

Mr Matsell, of Redcliffe Road, Grantham, believes the picture was taken in the 1950s and is able to name a number of those pictured.

They are (back, from left) unknown, Spendlove, Williamson, Kirby Powell, Neville; (front, from left) Selby, Charity, Woodhead, Simpson and Stan Cadwallader (umpire).

The side played at the John Players’ Sports Ground in Nottingham for the Midland Region Cup.
