Nottingham Forest coach Mick Raynor and Forest player Jason Kaninski headed to the King’s School in 1992 to help coach the boys.

The young players were given the opportunity of learning from some of the best coaches and players in the country as Forest sent staff to the school each week for eight weeks.

The idea was for the players to improve their skills while the Forest staff kept an eye out for potential prospects.

King’s School’s sports master Terry Dixon (pictured on the left) told the Journal: “The club does this with a view to discovering new talent. They discovered Des Walker this way.”

Mr Dixon said the boys had “come on leaps and bounds” and “improved no end” as a result of the coaching.
