We’re grateful to Mr Marcus Pettman for being quick on the draw with this snap for us.
Whilst not strictly an old photograph - it was taken a month or so ago - it is an evocative image that many may not have seen before.
The shot shows the sign beside the railway tracks outside Grantham marking the record-breaking Mallard run on July 3, 1938.
Mr Pettman was riding along in a carriage at the time he grabbed the photograph.
He said: “I was heading north and I think it was on the Lincolnshire side of the border with Rutland, near Essendine.”
