Grantham was bristling with holiday-makers on the move
This shot of a bustling St Peter’s Hill looks to have been snapped on a sunny day in the 1930s.
It appears that everyone is heading off on holiday.
The couple in the chauffeur-driven open tourer on the left have a large trunk on the back of their car, as does the car in front of them.
The driver of the bullnose Morris convertible heading towards camera presumably did not consider it warm enough to put the top of the car down.
St Peter’s Hill was full of buses and charabancs, including the luggage-laden one on the right which looks to be on its way back to Co Durham.
