Grantham painters were working for Fosters in the 1970s

Journal reader Ray Watson recently emailed in this old photograph, captured in wonderful vintage-looking colour.

It was snapped in 1978 and depicts painters for the Grantham firm of Fosters Builders whilst working on the refurbishment of St Vincent’s Hall.

The building had been bought from the Ministry of Defence by Aveling Barford International, but unfortunately they went bankrupt before the work was completed.
