Car Park Panto returns to Newark Showground on Boxing Day

More news, no ads

An unusual pantomime experience will be returning to Newark Showground to entertain families on Boxing Day at 2pm.

When theatres closed last year, Birmingham Stage Company and Coalition Presents worked together to save Christmas for more than 17,000 families, including sold-out performances at the showground, by putting on the worlds first drive-in pantomime.

This year, Car Park Panto is back — with a horrible twist.

Horrible Christmas, presented by Horrible Histories, offers a covid-secure experience, where children (and adults) are able to jump and down in their own cars, cheer and make as much noise as they like.

The Newark Showground performance starts at 2pm on Sunday.

When Christmas comes under threat from a jolly man dressed in red, it’s up to one young boy to save the day — but can he save Christmas?

From Victorian villains to Medieval monks, Puritan parties to Tudor treats, join the team on a hair-raising adventure through the history of Christmas in the company of Charles Dickens, Oliver Cromwell, King Henry VIII and St Nicholas as they all join forces to save the festive season.

Neal Foster, actor and manager at the Birmingham Stage Company said: “We were amazed and thrilled how totally successful the Car Park Party productions proved to be during the last 18 months — and we are delighted to be back on tour again with our Horrible Histories production of Horrible Christmas.

“It turns live theatre into a truly unique and festive event.”

Family members of all ages, including the dog, are invited to take part in this one-of-a-kind pantomime experience.

Ticket holders can take their own snacks and drinks to enjoy in the comfort of their own vehicles.

There will also be an on-site food vendor serving a variety of hot food, snacks, treats and cold soft drinks.
