Cranes used to recover lorry from A1

By Grantham Reporter

Recovery of the lorry which crashed this morning on the A1 at Colsterworth has begun.

Highways England has tweeted a pictured of two large cranes on both sides of the A1 lifting the lorry which was carrying 23 tonnes of acid.

The road is closed in both directions and is likely to remain closed for several more hours while the lorry is recovered.

Inspector Mark Gee, of Lincolnshire Police, said: “The problem we are going to have is that we are going to need to recover the vehicle and that could take some time with specialist equipment being needed to complete the recovery."
