A1 open and traffic cleared following lorry fire near Grantham




The A1 has reopened following a closure this afternoon (Sunday) caused by a lorry on fire.

The southbound carriageway was closed near Stoke Rochford while the HGV was recovered.

Fire crews from Grantham and Corby Glen attended the scene just before 12.40pm.

A Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue spokesperson said the cab was destroyed and the trailer 10 per cent damaged.

The flames were extinguished using two breathing apparatus, two hose reels and a thermal imaging camera.

The blaze was caused by an electrical fault.

No casualties were reported.
