A1 southbound shut north of Grantham after collision between car and lorry

The A1 southbound near Grantham has been closed following a serious collision.

Police are dealing with a collision near the Dry Doddington slip road involving an HGV and a silver Audi car.

The collision which happened at 8.50 am this morning (Satruday), involved two vehicles which collided near the Dry Doddington slip road. Both the north and south bound carriageways were closed to allow the Air Ambulance to land. The southbound carriageway will remain closed for the next few hours.

Two people have been taken to the Queens Medical Center in Nottinghamshire. A police spokesman said there was no update on their injuries

A police spokesman said that where possible the A1 and surrounding area near the collision is avoided. Diversions are being put into place.
