Aldi plans to move its store to a new site in Grantham

Supermarket Aldi is planning to move its store from South Parade to land at the junction of Trent Road and Harlaxton Road.

Aldi will host a consultation event tomorrow (Tuesday) to give residents and customers the chance to have their say on the proposed move, before the store puts in a planning application to South Kesteven District Council.

The consultation will take place at the Boiler House, Springfield Business Park, Caunt Road, Grantham, between 3pm and 7pm.

The store delivered a consultation document to 3,000 homes in the area asking for people's views on the proposal .

An Aldi spokesman said: "Aldi is investing significantly across the UK, modernising its existing estate and has identified this vacant land as an opportunity to upgrade its current offer in Grantham, benefitting existing and new customers.

"The current Aldi at South Parade is very popular, however, there is no potential to expand the site and bring it in line with Aldi's latest openings and it is therefore necessary to relocate.

"The proposed store will accommodate the full range of Aldi goods and enhance the customer experience through improved facilities."

Aldi also said its Grantham store was dated and in need of modernisation. It said all existing staff will have the opportunity to move to the new site.
