Ancaster nursery signs up for Woodland Trust's green award

Ancaster Nursery and Forest School have signed up to the Woodland Trust’s Green Tree School Award, an educational initiative which encourages teachers to take the classroom outdoors and connect children with woods and wildlife.

Participating schools and nurseries can gain points for completing woodland related activities, progressing through bronze, silver and gold levels until they reach the prestigious platinum title.

The nursery will receive a wooden / metal plaque at the end of the award scheme as well as certificates for each section completed.

Nursery manager Michelle Webster said: “Being part of the Woodland Trust runs alongside our ethos and will be incorporated during our weekly forest school sessions as well as getting our ‘Out of School’ club children involved too. We plan to start the week off next with the RSPB Big Birdwatch and then progress through the activities provided in the Green Tree Award’s guide.”
